Brackenmore, a little village with a tight-knit feel, is hiding a dark secret. The untimely death of an uncle she never knew she had forces Kate (Sophie Hopkins) to return to her family home in a small rural community in the south of Ireland, where she finds herself in a difficult situation. Her arrival is greeted by the intriguing young local Tom (D.J. McGrath), whom she meets shortly after arriving and who assists her in rediscovering her long-neglected roots and forgetting about the stresses of her life in London. In the course of her time at Brackenmore, Kate becomes increasingly aware of how the oddities of its self-protective occupants may be more ominous than she initially believed, and that the sequestered family estate may be hiding a terrible and ancient secret. Starting from the opening sequences of a tragic vehicle accident and concluding with a surprising twist, Brackenmore threads its way under your skin, alternating between conventional horror and esoteric riddles. In order to depict the silent terror that begins to grow when Hopkins uncovers the dark horror that exists within Brackenmore, cinematographer Justin McCarthy maintains a steady hand.
