In 1818, high-spirited young Fanny Brawne becomes increasingly intrigued by the handsome but aloof poet John Keats, who lives next door to her family friends the Dilkes. She is drawn to the quiet Keats even more after reading a collection of his poetry. Although he agrees to teach her poetry, Keats is unable to act on his reciprocated feelings for Fanny because, as a struggling poet, he lacks the financial means to support a wife.
