Brown Sugar
Sidney is a writer who recently left her job as a music critic for the Los Angeles Times to become the editor of the New York hip-hop magazine XXL. Dre works as an executive for a hip-hop record label in New York. They've known each other since they were kids, when they first discovered hip-hop. They should be perfect for each other now that they're back together, except Dre is about to marry lawyer Reese and Sidney claims she's not romantically interested in Dre. Meanwhile, Dre is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his company's emphasis on profit over artistry, which leads him to sign the gimmicky duo Ren and Ten while ignoring the talented Chris.
