It's been 100 years since the founding of a watch-making company in Geneva, and Charles Dé, the founder's grandson, is 50 years old. He talks to a reporter in an unusual way, but he doesn't say much about himself. He gives his family the slip and moves in with a young couple he meets by chance. He does the cooking, reads, drinks, and has philosophical talks with them, as well as cooking, drinking, and reading. When the young couple start to like Charles, they fall in love with him, too A private investigator is hired to find him, and the rest of the family hires one as well. This starts a business takeover that could end his Bohemian happiness.
