Sydney, an adventurous flight attendant, is forced to postpone her plans for a tropical Christmas when she assists an unaccompanied minor in getting home to Chicago to see her father Jonathan, a handsome widower and investigative reporter. Due to a lack of available outbound flights, Sydney is stranded in Chicago for many days — a city that she once called home as a child — and travels with Jonathan, his daughter, and their exuberantly merry family until she can locate a connecting flight. Jonathan offers her a deal: he will assist her in tracking down the tale of how her late parents met in exchange for her assistance in helping him create the perfect Christmas story and keep his job, and sparks begin to fly between them along the way.
