A grouchy old carpenter, Iisakki, sends Nikolas to live and work at the age of thirteen. Nikolas, on the other hand, gradually earns Iisakki's trust. Together, they begin to look after Nikolas' Christmas ritual. When the elderly Iisakki is forced to leave Nikolas and relocate, the Christmas gift tradition is jeopardized once more. Thankfully, Nikolas devises a remedy that continues to provide joy to children every Christmas, even now.
