Darcy Baker's mind is plagued by nightmares and obsessive sleepwalking, and she is unable to rid herself of the animalistic torture she received as a child at the hands of her mother, who is now dead. Upon learning that Darcy's family homestead, which has been the source of her nightmares, has been abandoned, Darcy's therapist Ryan is eager to get her back there and bring the suppressed memories to the surface in order to begin her road of healing. While Darcy has no interest in passing through the door to that inferno, she does have a strong desire to capture Ryan's affections and thus agrees to his request that she return to her childhood home with her family. When she and Ryan arrive at the dilapidated house, they learn that the terror that Darcy's mother instilled in them is still alive. The discovery of the presence of 10-year-old Sam, who lives in the woods with his mother and sister and keeps his secrets perilously close to his heart, is even more unnerving. Ryan does an admirable job of risking everything in order to treat both Sam and Darcy, but is their blood tie stronger than the healing waters he has to offer?
