Cole Trickle, a skilled but unproven stock car driver, is given a chance, and with the assistance of an experienced driver named Harry Hogge, he quickly makes a name for himself on the track. When the two young racers crash their vehicles together, it puts the young hotshot's career in jeopardy. His adversary is another competitor. However, if he receives treatment from his doctor, Cole will have a much better chance of recovering from his injuries and overcoming his anxiety.
