Dear Frankie
Frankie, nine, and his single mother Lizzie have been on the move since Frankie can remember, and they have most recently settled in a seaside Scottish town with a thriving arts community. The fiction Lizzie makes up about her deaf son's father being away at sea aboard the HMS Accra is meant to shield him from the reality that they've abandoned him and gone away from his father. Approximately every two weeks, Lizzie writes Frankie an imaginary letter from his father, in which he describes his travels to foreign locations. The ship's trip around the world is tracked by Frankie, and he discovers that it is scheduled to stop in his hometown. Due to the arrival of the genuine HMS Accra in less than a fortnight, Lizzie must choose between revealing Frankie the truth and finding the perfect stranger to portray Frankie's father for a single day.
