Edith Walks

It was inspired by a walk from Waltham Abbey in Essex, via Battle Abbey, to St Leonards-on-Sea in East Sussex that Edith Walks is a feature film of 60 minutes and 66 seconds. A pilgrimage in honor of Edith Swan Neck is documented in this film. The 108-mile trek, as the crow flies, provides an opportunity for the audience to ponder all things Edith. Another important component of the unfolding'story' is a dialogue between Alan Moore, Iain Sinclair, and Edith Swan Neck, which takes place in Northampton. Because the images were shot with digital super 8 iPhones and the sound was captured using a specially designed music box with a boom microphone, the film unfolds chronologically but in an entirely unpredictable manner. It was not necessary to point to the various interactions and spontaneous performances that occurred along the way to demonstrate that the angels of chance were gazing down on the troop, with EDITH serving as their phantasm.
