Elmer Gantry
Elmer Gantry (Burt Lancaster), a hedonistic yet endearing con artist, meets the beautiful Sister Sharon Falconer (Jean Simmons), a roadside revivalist, and feigns piety in order to join her act as a passionate preacher. The two work well together onstage, and their synergy extends to their romantic relationship. However, both the show and their relationship are jeopardized when one of Gantry's previous girlfriends (Shirley Jones) seeks to settle a score with the charming performer.
