With the help of singer and dancer Dixie Leonhard, US entertainer Eddie Sparks hopes to bring some joy to the soldiers during World War II. They form a perfect team and tour from North Africa to the Pacific to perform for "the boys." Later, they continue their work, but when the author Silver becomes involved in McCarthy's campaign and is fired by Eddie, Dixie turns away from him as well.
