After a strange prisoner with only a few weeks left on his sentence escapes from Central City's prison, the Elric brothers set out to find him and bring him back to justice. When their quest takes them to Table City, in the country of Creta's southwestern region, they discover that Alphonse has saved a young alchemist named Julia from the exact man they are trying to apprehend. After stumbling into Julia's hometown of Milos Valley, they become embroiled in a grassroots uprising led by her own people, and they are forced to flee their own country.
