A romantic drama set in 1930s England, Paris, and Spain. Gilda Bessé lives in Paris with Guy Malyon, an Irish schoolteacher, and Mia, a Spanish refugee. As the world approaches war, Gilda defiantly pursues her hedonistic lifestyle and her budding photography career. Guy and Mia, on the other hand, feel compelled to join the fight against fascism, and the three friends are separated.
