Odin has guarded his kingdom of Asgard for millennia. Every winter, however, the All-Father must rest and regain strength for one week. During this time, all of Asgard's enemies (including trolls, giants, dark elves, and demons) attempt to take over the realm, but are always defeated by Odin's son, the mighty Thor, albeit at the expense of many brave Asgardian warriors. Loki, the god of mischief, has kidnapped Dr. Bruce Banner and brought him to Asgard with the help of Amora, Thor's former lover and now the Enchantress. Loki enrages Banner, who transforms into the Hulk. The Enchantress then casts a spell on the Hulk, separating him from his monstrous alter-ego and giving Loki control over the Hulk's body.
