Based on a real-life event. On April27,1940, the Heinkel 111 bomber piloted by Luftwaffe pilot Horst Schopis is shot down near Grotli by an RAF Blackburn Skua L2940 fighter, which eventually crashes. The surviving German and English crew members begin to shoot each other, but find themselves gathered in the same compartment shortly thereafter. They must band together to endure the cold winter in the Norwegian countryside. An improbable, lasting friendship develops.
