The story is set in a forlorn mining town in Valencienne in northern France. It's about one man's quest to bring life to his once-prosperous community and its people. Philippe Torreton, who earned a César for Capitaine Conan, plays Daniel, a nursery school head in a demoralized town. Daniel is determined to revitalize the area. When a parent who has come to pick up her children collapses due to alcohol addiction and social services refuses to help, Daniel decides to intervene. Despite pushback from the locals, his efforts pay off.
