In the spirit realm, Oogway faces a bull adversary named Kai, who has defeated and taken the chi of all the other kung fu masters in the realm. Oogway is also captured and his chi is taken, but he tells Kai that the Dragon Warrior, Po, will stop him. Kai views this as a challenge and returns to the mortal realm to steal the Dragon Warrior's chi. Meanwhile, Master Shifu retires from teaching and hands over the reins to Po. Po, who was initially overjoyed, discovers that teaching kung fu is not as simple as he had hoped, and the Furious Five suffer injuries as a result. Po is depressed as a result of his failure, but Shifu advises him to try to be himself instead of trying to be a teacher. Po returns home, where he meets Li Shan, a panda who turns out to be his long-lost biological father. Po's adoptive father, Mr. Ping, is envious of how easily they bond with each other.
