Last Kind Words
Eleven-year-old Eli and his family go to Waylon's lonely farm, where the reclusive man's terrible past is threatening to engulf him. He becomes enamored with the woodlands while his family tries to rehabilitate the bleak pastures. An apple from Amanda piques Eli's interest when he's on the farm. She demands a guarantee from him the following day that he will not venture into the woods. After a violent interaction with his father, he betrays this pledge and discovers her body hanging from a tree one night.
