This is the sixth and final of Rohmer's Moral Tales. Frederic lives a bourgeois lifestyle; he is a partner in a small Paris law firm and is happily married to Helene, a teacher who is expecting her second child. Frederic daydreams about other ladies in the afternoons, but has no intention of acting. Chloe, an old friend's mistress, began dropping by his office one day. They meet irregularly in the afternoons as friends, until Chloe decides to seduce Frederic, putting him in a moral bind.
