They kept going west. Having set down roots in the far West, Willie and Kathy's parents now have a strong foundation. Missie is able to realize her passion for teaching as Willie looks after Kathy and grows the family's ranch with a little help from Jeff and Matthew. It turns out that when the frontier railroad comes to town, the joy of seeing Clark, Missie's father, is quickly tempered by the death of young Kathy. Suddenly, the father of a dead daughter accepts an offer from the powerful Samuel Doros to become the town sheriff. He is devastated, but he doesn't know what to do. Suddenly, their faith has been shaken and their once close-knit bond has been broken.
