When did Vienna become a city? Maria Theresia von Paradis, a talented pianist and close friend of Mozart, lost her sight as a child, but she was able to learn to play again. Dr. Mesmer is a forward-thinking doctor who gives Maria the care and attention she needs. The Paradis are desperate to save their talented daughter, so they give Maria to Mesmer. Maria is slowly able to see again thanks to the doctor's new methods of magnetism. Because of this, the woman loses her ability to play music over time.
