Paris detective Max is arrogant, independently wealthy, and frustrated by robber gangs he cannot apprehend. He recruits a bunch of minor thieves lead by an old friend to heist a bank to reclaim his status. Max begins spending evenings with Lilly, the group leader's lover and prostitute. He pushes Lilly to consider her future as a wealthy banker. His bank pays him. The plot works, the small criminals think they're ready for a big score, and the police are there. Can Max's cold plan fail? Entrapped?
