Yunagaya Domain, which is in the Tohoku region, is small during the reign of the eighth shogun. But there is a gold mine in the han. Masaatsu Naito of the Yunagaya Domain gets an order to perform Sankin-kotai in 5 days. It is a tradition for the daimyo to go to Edo to meet the shogun. Masaatsu Naito can't visit the shogun in Edo because he has to stay there for 8 days. This is also the reason Masaatsu Naito got the order. A high-ranking government official wants the gold mine. Also, the cost of Sankin-kotai is high, and the Yunagaya Domain is so small that it seems impossible to finish it at all.
