Mo' Better Blues
The film begins with Bleek as a child learning to play the trumpet; his friends invite him out to play, but his mother insists he complete his lessons first. As he matures, Bleek establishes his own band, The Bleek Gilliam Quartet. The narrative of Bleek and Shadow's on-stage friendly rivalry, which spills over into their professional relationship and threatens to tear the quartet apart.
