Their lifestyles are at variance with one other, and Jerry Day is a young freewheeling traveller. However, Jerry is unwilling to assume responsibility, while Toni longs for a stable home and family life. Jerry's daughter Pennie, who had been living with the wealthy family of his deceased wife, was'rediscovered' by the Days. When Jerry meets Pennie, it appears like Jerry will be able to put an end to his con games and start living a moral life. Jerry is tempted by the corrupting influence of jewelry thief Felix Evans, despite the responsibility of his new family. Evans puts Jerry's new family life in jeopardy when he convinces him to take a job.
