When Myrtle Gordon does her best work, she drinks alcohol. She's just a few days away from the opening night of her new play, which is about a woman who is worried about aging. On one night, one of Myrtle's fans is killed by a car as they try to get the star's attention by following her limousine. This is what happens to Myrtle after the accident. She thinks about it and goes on a spiritual quest, but doesn't get the answers she wants. She has to figure out how to make the show go on as the opening night draws closer and closer.
