Orpheus
A brawl breaks out between the poet Orphée (Jean Marais) and a gang of disgruntled upstarts in Paris's Café des Poètes. Cègeste (Edouard Dermit), a rival poet, is assassinated, and a mysterious princess (Mara Casares) insists on transporting Orpheus and the body in her Rolls-Royce. Orphée is quickly transported to the underworld, where the Princess reveals that she is indeed Death. Orpheus returns to the land of the living in his car, only to get infatuated with the car radio. This picture serves as the centerpiece of Jean Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy, which also includes The Blood of a Poet (1930), Orpheus (1950), and Testament of Orpheus (1951). (1960).
