The night before she goes to sleep, Marie, a widow in Provence with two daughters, has a vivid dream in which she meets Marty, a literary agent in Manhattan who has a similar dream in which Marie meets Marty. The two ladies have a similar appearance. Marie meets William, who immediately takes an interest in her. Marty meets Aaron, an accountant, who becomes his buddy and later his boyfriend as they become acquainted. In their fantasies, both ladies inform their partners about their ideal lives. Aaron is accepting, however William is envious. Marie will not fall asleep close to William, despite the fact that they have become lovers. Marie and William embark on a vacation to Paris, and Marty wakes up one morning with an ashtray from the hotel on her nightstand. Is it the same individual on both sides? What will be the key to unlocking reality?
