Penny Serenade
A light-hearted romance drama starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne as a couple who meet, fall in love, argue, and eventually reconcile. The character of Julie Gardiner Adams, played by Irene Dunne, begins to ponder on her past while listening to an audio recording of "Penny Serenade." This film is based on the true story of her impetuous marriage to newspaper reporter Roger Adams (Cary Grant), which begins on a euphoric high and quickly devolves into a tragic one. Other songs bring back memories of their courtship, their marriage, their wish for a child, as well as the joys and sadness they have experienced together over the years. In reflecting on their current troubles and the circumstances that led to them, she recalls a flurry of recollections.
