Pete's Dragon

Mr. Meacham, an elderly wood carver, has been entertaining the children of the community for years with his stories about a ferocious dragon that lives deep within the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Grace, who works as a forest ranger, thinks that her father's stories are nothing more than tall tales. That is, until she meets Pete, a mysterious 10-year-old boy who has no family and no home and who claims to live in the woods with a giant green dragon named Elliott. Pete also claims that he was raised by Elliott. In addition, based on Pete's accounts, Elliott appears to have a striking resemblance to the dragon that appears in Mr. Meacham's tales. Grace is determined to find out where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. She enlists Natalie, an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack owns the local lumber mill, to assist her in this endeavor. Natalie is Jack's daughter.
