Platoon Leader
Lt. Jeff Knight, a West Point grad, takes command of Sergeant Michael McNamara's tour veterans platoon in a Vietnamese trench camp. He gets a lot of skepticism. Instead of hiding until the end of his tour like his predecessor, Jeff takes charge and learns that the manual doesn't allow him to deal with all realities. He also gets hurt. He comes back, and he's respected by both men and women. It also has to deal with people who aren't very clear. The platoon protects them, but they also fear them because some work with the Vietcong and others hide their cooperation from the G.I.s.
