Suzanne Vale, a substance-addicted actress in Hollywood, is on the mend. Her film business demands that she live with her mother, Doris Mann, who was once a celebrity but is now a champion drinker, as a condition of continuing to work with her. Suzanne, who has spent years trying to break free from her mother's shadow and discovers that her mother still treats her like a child, will be disappointed by this set-up. Despite these issues-and others involving males in her life-Suzanne begins to see the lighter side of her predicament, and it occurs to her that moms, like daughters, have mothers.
