Ripley's Game
A villa in the Veneto is home to Tom Ripley, who is cool, urbane, wealthy, and homicidal. He lives there with Luisa, his harpsichord-playing girlfriend. Ripley receives a phone call from a former business associate from Berlin's underworld, who requests his assistance in assassinating a competitor. Ripley, who has always been interested in human nature, sets up a game in which he attempts to transform a gentle and innocent neighborhood picture framer into a hit guy. Jonathan Trevanny, an artisan who is dying of illness, has a wife and a little boy, and he has very little to leave them. Is it possible for Ripley to maintain control if she drags Jonathan into the game. Will there be a halt after a single murder? Was there any chance that Ripley would gain a conscience at some point in time?
