During World War II, while staring up the Mountain in Italy, a Brazilian Expeditionary Force-FEB-mines weeping platoon suffers a panic attack that sends them wandering aimlessly over "no man's territory." Inhumanely cold and starving, the ill-equipped soldiers are forced to choose between facing military court or penetrating enemy lines farther. After a lengthy conversation, they decide to save face with the Brazilian Army by pursuing a risky military objective: clearing the most dreaded minefield in Italy. On their approach there, they encounter two more deserters: a repentant Italian soldier attempting to join the Partigianos and a German colonel who has grown weary of the war. The warriors are ready to execute a previously impossible objective with the surprising assistance of their former enemy.
