1958 in Hollywood Marla Mabrey, a pious Baptist virgin, arrives in Los Angeles under contract with Howard Hughes. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes, a profoundly pious Methodist who is engaged to his seventh grade love. Their initial attraction tests their religious beliefs and breaches Hughes' most important rule: no employee can have any relationship with a contract actress. Hughes' actions challenges Marla and Frank's ideals and changes their life in unforeseen ways.
