Ship of Theseus
This is Indian playwright Anand Gandhi's first feature film, and it tells three stories about people forced to think about the ethics and moral issues raised by medical advances: a visually impaired Egyptian photographer who has trouble adjusting to her newfound sense of sight after a cornea transplant; a devout Indian monk fighting animal testing who has to confront his beliefs when he is diagnosed with liver cirrhosis; and an Indian stockbroker who has to confront his beliefs after being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis The film premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was hailed as "the year's hidden jewel." It was released in India in July 2013 and won the Indian National Film Awards in 2014 for Best Feature Film of 2013.
