On the first night of Richard Collier's first play, an old woman comes up to him and begs him to "Come back to me." He doesn't know much about her, so he tries to learn more about her. He finds out that she was a famous stage actress in the early 1900s. He becomes more and more obsessed with her, so he uses self-hypnosis to go back in time and meet her there.
