Squirm
We learn early on in the film from one of the individuals that electricity can be used to summon earthworms to the surface, but that doing so transforms them into ferocious flesh-eaters. A storm that night causes some power lines to collapse and come into contact with the ground, causing millions of man-eating worms to emerge from the dirt and into town, where they rapidly begin feasting on the inhabitants.
