A group of seven college pals-Alec, Billy and Jules; Kevin; Kirby; Leslie; and Wendy-are attempting to navigate through life and their friendships after graduating from college. Aspiring politician Alec has recently revealed his true colors by switching from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, to to the dismay of his long-term love, Leslie, whom he wishes to marry in the near future. However, Leslie, a budding architect, has a strong sense of independence. Prior to becoming really committed to another person in marriage, she believes she must first establish a reputation for herself and discover who she is. Leslie and Alec, on the other hand, have made the decision to live together. Some of Leslie's actions are justified by the fact that she has refused to marry Alec. Both Kirby, who aspires to be a lawyer and who pays for his education by working as a server at their neighborhood hangout, St. Elmo's Bar, and Kevin, a struggling writer, are currently living together. In terms of romantic attraction, they are diametrically opposed to one another.
