Sam Foster, a psychiatrist, has a new patient, Henry Letham, who is claiming to be suicidal. Sam meets Henry's previous therapist in an attempt to diagnose him and also locates Henry's mother – despite the fact that Henry claims to have murdered both of his parents. Sam slides into an unstable mental condition when reality begins to contradict itself. Then he discovers information about how and when Henry may attempt suicide and races to intervene.
