To be defeated and not triumph. This is the life motto of three young friends: Alek, Sophy, and Rudy. Scouts, high school grads, and bold ideas for the future broke through September 1939 in Warsaw. Entering maturity in a very dramatic moment, they must choose between surviving at any means and fighting for a free homeland, sacrificing all. The boys, raised in patriotic households and influenced by scouting principles, resolve to fight. They become soldiers, and despite every brush with death, they are able to live a full life.
