Oscar Grubman has a lot of beautiful, well-dressed women in his shop. He is kind and sensitive, can speak French very well, loves Voltaire, and thinks that the most important thing about a woman is her hands. On the train home from Chauncey Academy for Thanksgiving, Oscar tells his best friend that he has big plans for this vacation. He wants to win the heart of his true love, and he will do it. Even so, there's one big problem: Oscar loves his stepmom Eve more than anything else. Oscar is sure that he could be a better partner for Eve than his work-obsessed father, but he doesn't believe that. To make things worse, he does not get Eve's heart. As Diane, Eve's best friend, wears Eve's perfumed scarf on a date with Oscar, he gets a short-term boost of happiness. Diane likes Oscar because he fills a gap in her life that she doesn't have. Some of the time, Diane is a distraction for Oscar, but his search for Eve leads to a surprising outcome.
