Macon Leary, a travel writer, appears to be sleep walking through life after the death of his son. Macon's wife appears to be having problems as well, and believes it would be best if the two separated. Following the breakup, Macon meets a strange outgoing woman who appears to bring him back to earth. Macon's wife appears to believe that their marriage is still worth a shot after beginning a relationship with the outgoing woman. Macon is then forced to make numerous decisions.
