The Americanization of Emily

While preparing for D-Day in1944, the British discovered that their island was housing hundreds of American soldiers who were "oversexed, overpaid, and over here," as the British put it at the time. That's exactly what Charlie Madison is like; he understands how to make his life as smooth and risk-free as possible. After falling in love with an English woman, however, things become complex, and Charlie is forced to go on an insane and risky mission as a result of his commanding officer's psychological breakdown.
