The Andromeda Strain

When almost all of the people in Piedmont, New Mexico, are found dead after a satellite falls back to Earth, the head of Project Scoop in the US Air Force calls it an emergency. A group of famous scientists led by Dr. Jeremy Stone rush to a secure laboratory and try to first isolate the life form while figuring out why two people from Piedmont—an old alcoholic and a six-month-old baby—survived. The scientists carefully study the alien life form, but they don't know that it has already changed and is now a much bigger threat in the lab, which has a nuclear self-destruct device to stop dangerous biological agents from getting out.
