The film updates the novel Uma Aprendizagem ou O Livro dos Prazeres by Clarice Lispector. Lóri is a sad and alone character in the story. She splits her time between teaching and her frequent but brief romantic partnerships. She stumbles upon the notoriously egocentric and controversial Philosophy professor, Ulisses. Since he is clueless when it comes to women, Lóri is forced to teach him about love while also confronting her own feelings of isolation.
