The Christmas Card
Cody Cullen's nightmare tour in Afghanistan comes to an end when his colleague Jonesy is blown to bits while delivering medical supplies in Nurestan. Cody is sent home to return Jonesy's bride, now a widow, with personal belongings. On his way home, he stops in Nevada City, California, where he meets Faith Spelman, who writes Christmas cards for the parish's lonely soldiers, who happen to be orphans like him. He also happens to save her father, Luke, from a serious car accident. Cody is invited to dinner by the Spellmans, followed by the Christmas tide. He contributes significantly to the family logging business. Luke, a Vietenam vet, wants Cody as his son-in-law, but Faith, despite her charms, remains committed to her rarely present fiancé Paul, a wine broker.
