The Cure

Dexter, who is 11 and has AIDS, and Eric, who is a little older and much bigger and lives next door, become best friends. Eric also grows closer to Dexter's mother than to his own. Eric's mother is lazy and prejudiced, and when she finds out about their friendship, she forbids it violently. Dexter and Erik set out to find "The Cure," which they had read about in the local paper.
