In the 1990s, when Go gambling fever overtook Korea, Gui-su loses everything due to his father's compulsive gambling to the point of ruin. Gui-su, abandoned in the world, finds Il-do, a mentor and Go instructor, and undergoes rigorous training to become the Go grandmaster.
